Stone Mountain Hypersomnia Awake Walk 2016

Because a Sleep Walk on the Mountain might be dangerous!

Several of us at the recent support group meeting decided to meet and hang out at the base of Stone Mountain.   And we decided that everyone should be invited!  Our plan is to enjoy a picnic at the base of the Walk-Up Trail.  Anyone who wants to hike the 1 mile walk-up trail to the top of the mountain will do so and take a group photo at the top.  Anyone who does not want to climb the mountain may wait at the picnic area at the bottom.  The hiking group will then rejoin the picnic at the bottom.

What to Bring: your own food, drink, sunscreen and chair.  Bring a friend if you want. Bring $15.00/car to park.  Bring appropriate shoes if you want to climb the mountain with some of us.

We aren’t guaranteeing anything other than that we want to meet. We are guaranteeing that we will have a good time!

Where to Meet:  Park at the Confederate Hall Parking Lot (from the main entrance, take a right and the parking lot will be on your left) and we will meet at the picnic table at the base of the Walk-Up Trail.

We look forward to seeing you there!

While on top, 1,686 feet above sea level, enjoy amazing views of downtown Atlanta, the North Georgia mountains and the surrounding area. On a haze-free day, you can see 60 miles from the mountain.

Please Note:

  • Emergency call boxes are located along the trail and in the parking lot.
  • Pets are not allowed on the Walk-Up Trail.
  • This trail is not recommended for people with limiting physical conditions and is not wheelchair accessible.
  • Appropriate footwear should be worn.
  • The mountain is very slippery when wet.
  • If you walk to the top of the mountain and ride down on the Summit Skyride, you will need to walk the 1.1 miles back to the Confederate Hall parking lot.
  • If you ride to the top of the mountain on the Summit Skyride and walk down the trail to Confederate Hall, you will need to walk the 1.1 miles back to the Summit Skyride Area.
