“This is Hypersomnia” Campaign

Welcome to day 7, the last day, of Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week!  #IHAW2016  For our last official Awareness Week newsletter, we thought it would be good to wrap up with one video from a person with hypersomnia and one video from a supporter.

The last video from a person with hypersomnia comes from Melissa.  Melissa discusses a common problem many people with hypersomnia experience.  They spend time and energy getting ready to go somewhere and then, they are just too exhausted to go.

The last video from a supporter comes from Jenn.  In Jenn’s video, she discusses the importance of connection for supporters but, this tip also applies to people with hypersomnia.

We know you will find these videos as powerful as we have.

Thank you Melissa & Jenn!

We want to thank Melissa & Jenn for bravely sharing their experiences with the world for idiopathic hypersomnia awareness week 2016, in the hopes that sharing their journey will help someone else out there who is desperately searching for answers and is feeling totally alone. We are so proud of you Melissa & Jenn!  Have Melissa’s and Jenn’s videos inspired you to share a video diary?  Please private message them to Jennifer Beard on Facebook.

“This is Hypersomnia” Campaign

Welcome to day 6 of Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week!  #IHAW2016  In preparation for Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week this year, we asked the greater hypersomnia community to help spread awareness by sharing your life experience with the world through short video diaries.  We received video diaries from people with hypersomnia and supporters alike and we will be sharing many of these videos with you each day throughout the awareness week.

Today’s videos come from supporters, Michael and Martin.  In Michael’s video, he offers some simple tips for how to take care of your loved one with Hypersomnia.  In Martin’s video, he offers some tips on how to approach having the “What is Hypersomnia?” conversation.  We know you will find their videos for supporters as powerful as we have.
