Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week for 2016 has come to an end. We want to congratulate the community for such a strong show of support for this year’s Awareness Week! This event has resulted in raising more Hypersomnia Awareness than ever before!
Just to recap, we had well over 1,000 views on the videos people with hypersomnia and their supporters so bravely shared with the world for our “This is Hypersomnia” campaign. The videos were so inspiring that they even motivated others to make videos, sharing their hypersomnia experience with the world. The Atlanta Hypersomnia Support group had over 1,000 visits to our website during the awareness week.
This strong show of support is due to you, members of our Hypersomnia community. Thank you for changing your Facebook profile pictures and creating hypersomnia awareness posts which spread like wildfire across social media. Many were empowered to post for the first time about Hypersomnia on their personal Facebook timelines. We are so proud of all you have done to support Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week 2016 and we are grateful to be a part of such an incredible community. This awareness week epitomizes the meaning of our group slogan, “We can only grow stronger when we support each other”.
Did you miss any of the powerful video stories this week? We have created a page on our website where you can find them all! Click below to visit our “This is Hypersomnia” Video Gallery.
Welcome to day 7, the last day, of Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week! #IHAW2016 For our last official Awareness Week newsletter, we thought it would be good to wrap up with one video from a person with hypersomnia and one video from a supporter.
The last video from a person with hypersomnia comes from Melissa. Melissa discusses a common problem many people with hypersomnia experience. They spend time and energy getting ready to go somewhere and then, they are just too exhausted to go.
The last video from a supporter comes from Jenn. In Jenn’s video, she discusses the importance of connection for supporters but, this tip also applies to people with hypersomnia.
We know you will find these videos as powerful as we have.
